Round
the World Yacht Sailing
Clipper Venture
Clipper Ventures was founded by Sir
Robin Knox-Johnston in 1995. It organizes
the bi-annual clipper race around the world. In the 2005/6 race, 10 yachts
are participating. To compete, crew members must be over 18 years old and fit
and healthy. There is no upper age limit to the race and so far the oldest
circumnavigator has
been 66 years old. Some 40% of our crews have been female to date and the sailing
ability throughout the fleet has tended to be about a 50/50 split of crew who
have
previous experience and those who have no prior experience before joining the
Clipper training. Sailing ability does not affect our selection of crew…‘no
experience necessary!’
